About Jim & Charl Ancestors' Families
This is a central site where Jim & Charl Neiers hope to share data about their
ancestors' families. Jim's side includes Neiers, Scheckel, Loes, Clancy,
Entringer, Mousel, Gehlen, Connor, Reichling, Weber, Graff, Huber, Klein,
Hoffman, Thoma, Kneip, Wolf, Rucken, and Conter. Charl's side includes
Schemmel, Kremer, Bisenius, Shaffer, Hopply, Soisson, Moran, Scheitler, Kurt,
Sauser, Jacob, Widner, Madigan, Frederich, Steltenkamp, and Dillon. These
families are mostly from Luxembourg, Alsace, Westphalia, and Ireland. They
all had a large presence in the eastern Iowa area of western Dubuque, Jones,
Delaware, and Jackson Counties. Many originally settled around St Donatus in
Jackson County or New Vienna in Dubuque County with a common meeting around
Cascade in Dubuque County. Some branches of these families went to western
Iowa and from there spread to Nebraska, the Dakotas, Minnesota, and Kansas.
There were many marriages of siblings to siblings, large families, and common
relationships among these families.
